    Academic Background

    Ms Cutliffe is an experienced researcher who is currently undertaking a PhD in Cancer Biology from University College. She graduated with a BSc. (Hons) in Human Nutrition from University College Dublin. She is also a Cambridge-qualified, English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) Teacher. She has worked in the areas of Infant Nutrition (Danone Early Life Nutrition), Maternal and Infant Hospital Care (National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre), Patient Safety (UCC School of Nursing and Midwifery), Epidemiology (Norwegian Institute of Public Health) and Food Safety and Security (Queen's University Belfast and Safefood). During her undergraduate degree, Ms Cutliffe undertook two laboratory research summer placements in the UCD Centre for Food Safety and the UCD Conway Institute. She presented a poster at an undergraduate research conference in China. She has experience writing academic papers and research summaries for the layperson. Such summaries include newspaper articles for the Norwegian Institute for Public Health and Breakthrough Cancer Research (her PhD funder). Furthermore, she worked for the Diabetes and Hodgkins Lymphoma Departments of Medivizor, where she summarized papers for the layperson.

    Publishing History

    To date, Ms Cutliffe has authored two publications (one as first author and one as a secondary author). The first-author paper focused on Esophageal Cancer and Calcium Signaling, while the other focused on Patient Safety.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Ms Cutliffe has worked for Medivizor: a company that publishes 300-word, layperson-oriented articles summarizing recent published research. At Medivizor, she worked for the Diabetes and Hodgkin Lymphoma Departments. She also produced newspaper articles describing the research of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. She has engaged with cancer patients and summarized her research for them. She has reviewed papers from the Bioengineered journal. She gained ample editing experience in her work as an EFL Teacher. Ms Cutliffe joined Edanz as a medical writer in 2023.

    Writing Experience

    Ms Cutliffe has contributed largely to the writing of two published papers. She also has written health articles for "Foinse," an Irish-language newspaper. Her experience with Medivizor, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, and her teaching experience has involved a certain degree of writing.
