    Academic Background

    Dr Cleasby spent 17 years in biomedical research, having initially trained and practiced in veterinary medicine. He worked in the UK and Australia and was a senior lecturer and principal investigator at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London. He has specific expertise in the areas of diabetes, metabolism, and obesity research, and more widely in endocrinology and animal physiology. In particular, his research focused on the pathophysiology of insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, using physiological and cell/molecular approaches.

    Publishing History

    Dr Cleasby has published >30 papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (average >60 citations for primary publications) and is an experienced reviewer and editor. In addition, he has presented data at numerous conferences and been a guest speaker at a number of prestigious institutions. He taught undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary and bioscience students for 8 years and more recently has worked as a freelance scientific manuscript editor for a number of institutions and has qualified in and taught general and scientific English around Europe.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Dr Cleasby has been a reviewer for numerous journals and has edited over 1,500 manuscripts, along with reports, proposals, abstracts, PhD theses and websites. He joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2016. He is adept an editing materials in a wide range of areas in the disciplines of medicine and veterinary medicine, physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, surgery and anatomy.
