    Academic Background

    Dr Gunn is an experienced scientist who has worked in human health research for over 12 years. During that time she has pursued her interest in metabolism in the context of exercise, nutrition, sleep, biomedicine, and biotechnology. Dr Gunn completed a PhD in Medical Sciences, studying the effect of gene–nutrient interactions on fatty acid metabolism in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; her most recent research role was in the biotechnology field of cellular agriculture. This has given her broad methodological and analytical experience including cell culture and molecular biology, omics technologies and mass spectrometry, human intervention studies, and secondary analysis of dietary intake and biomarkers.

    Publishing History

    Dr Gunn has authored 15 peer-reviewed papers, comprising original articles, review articles, book chapters, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. These have appeared in journals including Nature Reviews Endocrinology, Diabetes Care, Physiological reports, European Journal of Neuroscience, and Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Since completing her PhD, Dr Gunn has completed English language editing on over 50 research papers for publication, covering a wide variety of journal and article types, as well as a range of topics across the medial sciences. In addition, she has been a reviewer for the British Journal of Nutrition, Endocrine Connections, and Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences.
