2006 - PhD Physical Geography, University of Exeter

2002 - BSc (Hons) Environmental Sciences, University of Ulster

Dr Ballantine is an experienced environmental scientist, specializing in water and sediment quality, water quality statistics and mitigation options for diffuse pollution. For her graduate studies, she developed a conceptual model that represented the sediment-associated transport of phosphorous through river catchments over time. After working as a scientist for a government organization in the UK and research institutes in New Zealand, Dr Ballantine is currently a lecturer in Environmental Sciences at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou, China. She has published reports on topics covering water quality indices and trends, assessing the effectiveness of mitigation options for rural diffuse pollution, and improving phosphorus retention in constructed wetlands. Dr Ballantine joined the Edanz Group as an editor in 2013.
