2022 - MS Environmental Engineering, Montana Technological University
2003 - PhD Mathematics, University of Tennessee
1998 - BA Mathematics, Music (double major), Furman University
Academic Background
Dr Battle has more than 20 years of experience as a professor of mathematics. She has taught a wide variety of pure and applied mathematics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervised student research, and published her work in peer-reviewed journals. Her research has focused on mathematical modeling applied to life sciences, including studies on interactions between native and non-native fish and the impact of dams and dam removal on native fish species. She is currently working on a modeling project to analyze mechanisms that lead to an invasion of non-native plant species. Dr Battle’s interests in applied mathematics led her to complete an MS in environmental engineering, with a research focus on green hydrogen production via electrolysis. She is knowledgeable in both pure and applied mathematics, with specialties in differential equations and mathematical modeling. She is also familiar with current technology in environmental engineering for capturing and remediating pollutants in air, water, and soil.
Publishing History
Dr Battle has published several peer-reviewed papers in journals including Ecological Modelling, Aquatic Sciences, Journal of Biological Dynamics, and the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications. She has presented at numerous conferences and was the keynote speaker at the Taiwan Wetland Ecology conference.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Battle has extensive experience with editing manuscripts for both students and colleagues. She has also served as a reviewer for several academic journals, including Ecological Modelling, the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, and the Journal of the Franklin Institute. Dr Battle joined Edanz as an Editor in 2024.
Writing Experience
In addition to writing manuscripts for publication in academic journals, Dr Battle coauthored a chapter for a book on teaching mathematics online published in 2019.
