2023 - PhD Chemical Engineering, Newcastle University
2019 - MEng Chemical Engineering, Newcastle University
Academic Background
Dr Saczek is a Research Associate in Biosensing at the University of Manchester, working with Cambridge Medical Technologies to develop a polymer-based sensor for early heart attack detection and a temperature-sensing technology for commercialization with Arduino-based electronics. Previously, as a Research Associate in Medical Device Engineering at Newcastle University, he developed a sensor for troponin cardiac biomarkers, leading device miniaturization and interdisciplinary research efforts. Dr Saczek earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University in 2023, focusing on microplastics and the liquid/gaseous interface for environmental remediation, and he created a novel method for microplastic capture using bubbles and oil, which won top honors at the 26th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering (CHISA 2022). He holds a First-Class Honours MEng in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University, with a final-year project on a novel cleaning technique using the Leidenfrost effect.
Publishing History
Dr Saczek has published seven peer-reviewed papers, four as lead author, in journals including Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Engineering, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics. He has also presented at several international conferences.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Saczek has used his expertise to edit numerous manuscripts for colleagues at the institutions he has been affiliated with, as well as for collaborators and peers at academic institutions globally. He joined Edanz as an editor in 2024.
