Academic Background
Dr McKellar is an experienced geologist in the fields of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and tectonics. She has extensive experience in field studies, laboratory investigations, research, teaching, and public engagement. She is currently working on publishing research on the Caledonian Orogeny and the implications for fluvial sedimentation in the Caledonian foreland. She is experienced across the wider field of Earth science, particularly in sedimentology, tectonics, paleontology, evolutionary biology, petroleum geology, structural geology, stratigraphy, mineralogy, petrology, and provenance studies including detrital zircon geochronology and heavy mineral analysis.

Dr McKellar has published a number of papers as first author or coauthor in international, high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. In addition, she has presented her research at numerous high-profile international conferences.

Dr McKellar has several years of experience in reviewing manuscripts for international journals and editing, with particular focus on editing for non-native English speakers. She is highly skilled in editing for grammar, logical flow, and conciseness across the wider field of Earth sciences, including geology, climatology, meteorology, and atmospheric science.
