2004 - MSc Plant Science, University of Alberta
2000 - BSc Biology, University of Waterloo
Academic Background
Dr Yajima's research background is primarily in plant genetics/genomics, with a particular interest in crop improvement (i.e., enhanced abiotic and biotic stress resistance). He has studied transcriptome-level and proteome-level changes during interactions between plant hosts and pathogens (e.g., fungi), while also investigating the effects of genetic modifications on plant stress resistance. He has successfully applied a transgenic approach to improve crop tolerance to an important fungal disease.
Publishing History
Dr Yajima has authored several peer-reviewed articles in international journals. He has also presented at multiple national and international conferences.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Yajima has edited manuscripts for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and principal investigators. He has been an editor for more than 10 years. He has also served as a reviewer for several international scientific journals. Thus, he has a clear understanding of the standard of writing expected by journal editors and publishers. Dr Yajima joined Edanz as an Editor in 2011.
Writing Experience
Dr Yajima is the author of numerous journal articles and reviews published in peer-reviewed journals. He has also co-authored a book chapter, an online encyclopedia chapter, and an online technical guide/magazine.
