Dr Wacey is an experienced geoscientist with over 15 years of experience in conducting field studies, supervising students, and publishing work in international, high-impact journals. He has a broad knowledge of geoscience, with particular expertise in geochemistry, paleontology, sedimentology, geobiology, biogeochemistry, Precambrian geology, and astrobiology. He has experience using many common geoscience tools, including electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.

Dr Wacey has authored over 65 peer-reviewed journal articles, 28 as first author, in journals including Nature Geoscience, Nature Communications, PNAS, Geology, Precambrian Research, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Geobiology, Chemical Geology, Astrobiology, and many others. He has also authored ten book chapters, two field guides, and a textbook. He has presented at over 20 international conferences.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Wacey has over 10 years of experience in editing manuscripts for both students and colleagues. He has been a reviewer for approximately 20 journals, including Nature, Science, and many of the top geoscience journals (e.g., Geology, Precambrian Research, EPSL, Geobiology). He has also reviewed several grant applications for US, UK, and Australian funding agencies. Dr Wacey joined Edanz as an editor in 2021.
Writing Experience
In addition to 100+ journal articles, conference abstracts, and book chapters, Dr Wacey has written a textbook 'Early Life on Earth: A Practical Guide', and two geological field guides. He has also contributed material to popular science books/encyclopedias and has written articles for The Conversation.
