    Academic Background

    Dr Halievski is a neuroscientist with over 12 years of experience in scientific writing and data analysis in the life sciences. After completing a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, she transitioned to a career in medical writing at a top medical communications agency. Leveraging her lab bench experience together with her communications background, she dives deep into scientific documents to create clear and compelling final products. She prepares materials for a wide range of audiences, including physicians (primary care and specialists), MSLs, pharmacists, patients, and key stakeholders. She is knowledgeable in many areas, including neurology, rheumatology, immunology, oncology, psychology/psychiatry, pharmacology, dermatology, chronic pain, genetics, muscular disease, neuroinflammation, preclinical studies, in vivo assays, molecular and cellular biology, gut microbiome–brain axis, and sex as a biological variable.

    Publishing History

    Dr Halievski has published 15 peer-reviewed papers, 7 as first author, in journals including Journal of Neuroscience, Human Molecular Genetics, PAIN, Experimental Neurology, and Journal of Physiology. She has presented at several international conferences to researchers as well as patients and families, including at the Society for Neuroscience and the annual Kennedy's Disease Association meeting.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Dr Halievski has edited hundreds of manuscripts in a professional capacity. She often views her clients’ manuscripts from the perspective of a peer reviewer to ensure it has been prepared adequately for forthcoming review. She has also served as a peer reviewer for several journals, including Scientific Reports and Brain Research. She is working towards the Professional Editing Standards Certificate from Queen's University in Canada. Dr Halievski joined Edanz as a medical writer in 2022.

    Writing Experience

    Dr Halievski has worked on numerous types of documents and always approaches her work with the individual client's needs in mind, paying close attention with a sharp eye and always being focused on the key messages and audience. She is also working towards the American Medical Writers Association Medical Writing Essential Skills Certificate.
