    Academic Background

    Dr Knapp’s scientific background is in medicine, specifically cellular biology and physiology, with particular emphasis on pediatrics. Her PhD research focused on the role of various hormones in the growth-retarded fetus. From 2000 to 2003, Dr Knapp was awarded an American Heart Association, Florida Affiliate, Post-doctoral Fellowship. She has more than 15 years of experience in conducting studies and publishing work in respected international journals. Her most recent research was on fetal brain injury, and involved investigating the mechanisms of fetal cardiovascular and cerebrovascular adaptation to asphyxia, and she also investigated treatment options for perinatal asphyxia.

    Publishing History

    Dr Knapp has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed papers in journals including J Endocrinol, J Soc Gynecol Invest, J Physiol, Suppl, Am J Physiol, Stroke, Anat Rec, and Placenta.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

    Dr Knapp has been editing manuscripts for grammar, logical flow, and conciseness for more than 20 years and has peer reviewed multiple manuscripts. She joined Edanz as an editor in 2003.

    Writing Experience

    Dr Knapp was the Science Writer for the journal Anatomical Record, which involved writing Highlights and technical articles, for 4 years (2011–2014). She has also been doing some medical writing since 2021.
