    Academic Background

    Dr Barber completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. His research examined pathways of drug metabolism including the activation of drug detoxification mechanisms, with particular focus on the xenosensors PXR and CAR. His primary project investigated the regulation of PXR by FoxA2 in response to endogenous and exogenous signals. This project sought to further existing knowledge in the field by examining cross-regulation between energy metabolism and drug detoxification pathways.

    Publishing History

    Dr Barber has presented his research at conferences held by the American Association for Cancer Research, Gordon Research Conferences and the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics. He has previously published his research in the journal Drug Metabolism and Disposition.

    Editing Experience

    Dr Barber is a full-time freelance writer and editor in the Memphis, Tennessee area with nearly 15 years of experience. His principal activities are writing, editing, and proofreading of scientific and medical reports, essays, grant proposals, peer-reviewed research papers and abstracts. His areas of expertise include but are not limited to, oncology, pharmaceutical sciences, drug metabolism, cancer chemotherapy, metabolic regulation, infectious diseases, and microbiology. In particular, Dr Barber specializes in working with non-native English-speaking authors.
