1969 - PhD Microbiology, University of California, Los Angeles

1966 - BA Bacteriology, University of California, Los Angeles

    Academic Background

Dr Tronick’s academic studies focused on posttranslational modification of bacterial flagellin and their role in motility and pathogenesis. His postdoctoral research in Dr Earl R. Stadtman’s laboratory at the National Heart and Lung Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, was involved with the biochemical and immunochemical characterization of bacterial glutamine synthetases. Dr Tronick’s career as a cancer researcher (25 years) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bethesda, Maryland, was devoted to deciphering the molecular mechanisms of retroviral replication and mechanisms of oncogenesis and to understanding the role of oncogenes, proto-oncogenes, growth factors, and growth factor receptors in the etiology of human cancer.

    Publishing History

Dr Tronick’s research resulted in the publication of over 130 peer-reviewed original research papers, reviews, and book chapters, published in journals including Cell, Journal of Bacteriology, Journal of Virology, Nature, Oncogene, and Science. At the NCI, Dr Tronick collaborated with scientists worldwide, and helped many of them publish their research. After leaving the NCI he served as Director R&D and Technical Services at a biotechnology company where he was involved in developing immunochemical and molecular biological reagents for cancer research and signal transduction.

    Editing Experience

Dr Tronick has been a professional scientific writer and editor since 2010. He joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2012.
