Academic Background
Dr McCollum is a neuroscientist with expertise in the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders. Her doctoral research investigated the neurochemistry and neuroanatomy of schizophrenia in human postmortem tissue, and the effects of antipsychotic medications on the brain in rats. Dr McCollum's work focused on the dopaminergic and glutamatergic systems, and ultrastructural analysis of synaptic connections in the striatum. She is experienced in histology, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, stereology, and light and electron microscopy.
