    Academic Background

Dr Barbee is an experimental cell and molecular biologist. He has studied senescence in human fibroblasts with a focus on the extracellular vesicles produced by different types of senescent cells. He analyzed the vesicle content and paracrine signaling of these senescent cells as well as examining their potential roles in wound healing. Through his work, he became adept at many biology techniques including mammalian cell culturing, western blotting, confocal and light microscopy, and mass spectrometry.

    Publishing History

Dr Barbee has co-authored one manuscript for submission to Nature Aging and has authored another that is currently being considered for submission in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications. He has also presented the work of this second manuscript at the 2022 Cell Bio ASCB|EMBO meeting.

    Editing and Reviewing Experience

Dr Barbee has edited all of the manuscripts written in his lab by non-native English speakers. In addition to general edits, he ensured that the word choice was natural and that there was logical flow throughout. Dr Barbee joined Edanz as an Editor in 2024.
