    Academic Background

    Before shifting her focus from research to editing, Dr Murray completed her doctorate in biochemistry at Duke University with a dissertation on the data-driven classification and correction of RNA backbone structure. She performed postdoctoral research on RNA backbone and also on the structure and function of the group IIC intron of O. iheyensis. She is familiar with biochemistry, chemistry, mathematics, structural biology, and molecular biology.

    Dr Murray has published 8 peer-reviewed papers in journals including PNAS, Nucleic Acids Research, RNA, and Acta Crystallographica. She has presented at multiple international conferences and has spoken at the RNA Society Meeting.

    Dr Murray is a BELS-certified editor with 15 years of experience and has edited over 8000 journal articles, grant applications, protocols, and other research-related manuscripts, predominantly for researchers who are non-native English speakers. She is skilled at editing for grammar, conciseness, and natural flow and phrasing. Dr Murray joined Edanz as an editor in 2024.
